Each of us has the ability to make a difference and we can promote character in many different ways. Character education can begin in our homes and spread to our workplace and our schools. Using the guidelines provided by the Character Education Partnership and the Safe and Drug Free Schools Consortium, the Gahanna Jefferson Schools has developed a Character Education Resource Manual to help provide character education in our schools. A portion of this plan is to promote a specific character trait each month and to keep character and citizenship as a focus in our community.

A new project for GC3 is to establish a community book club. A joint effort between CG3 members, the Gahanna Library and staff from Gahanna Jefferson Schools, this project is now underway. Ideas are currently being discussed to include Gahanna area residents of all ages. The focus of this book club will be to promote character in our community. Books will be selected each month to focus on the featured character trait of the month. New members are always encouraged to participate in GC3 projects and participation by book club enthusiasts would be a great help on this project. Please consider participating in this exciting new project.
Another fun event is planned for the October 18, 2006 Creepside Festival. GC3 is planning to participate in the "Trunk or Treat" festivities sponsored by Gahanna Parks and Rec. This is your chance to let the "kid in you" out for a fall night of fun. Costumes are optional. You can help by donating treats or volunteering to pass out treats at the event. Please E-mail Maryanne Albanese if you would like to volunteer.
GC3 is the Gahanna Coalition for Character and Citizenship. It is a group of adults and students dedicated to providing activities, guidance, and mentor possibilities to the youth in our community.
GC3 invites all members of the community to join us at our monthly meetings. Whether you can attend one meeting or all meetings, your ideas and support are appreciated. A special meeting has been scheduled, to work on the development of our new community book club. This meeting will be September 21, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at Panera, 64 Granville St. Gahanna. Come and be a part of something new in Gahanna and share in our goals of promoting strong character in our community. Generally, meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The tentative schedule is as follows: Return to Home Page
